Froebel's Kindergarten
Mason City Study Group
Early On

In practicing the series of Life Forms based on the Kindergarten Guide (pg. 73 figs. 128-137), the group represented such structures as a Momument, Throne, Court-yard, Riding-school, Shooting-gallery, Stables, Bath, Bath with Steps, Well with four steps and Staircase.
Important to the building process is that the Monument was formed from a Park-gate (exercise 127) on the preceeding page of the Guide; by transformations, or changes in positions of the blocks, using the diagrams for instructions new structures were created, one after the other.
Joanne reported in her notes: "the Well is a very intriguing design when observed from the top. The bricks appear to rotate around the center being in a pinwheel design , plus it has vertical movement in that the four vertical bricks in the middle draw attention upward from the horizontally placed bricks...creating a linear spiral."
