Moving On

Just a note to say that Pat and Joanne met at the AIC and worked with Gift Five, Forms of Knowledge, and they explored the learning of fractions, following gthe Kindergarten Guide, as illustrated.
Pat compared how different sets of fours could be put together to make whole squares from the cubes, the half cubes, and the quarter cubes, and how each related in proportion to the other.
They spent over an hour on various ways children might be engaged to learn parts, wholes, and of course tghe parts in this case involve halves and quarters of cubes (fractions) in relation to the whole set of 27 that makes a 3 x 3 x 3 cube.
Note that in June for a smaller teachers' workshop hosted by Wright on the Park on incorporating architecture in the schools, the teachers had one session of Froebel with Gift Five and Pat was the guide. The Mason City Study Group planned on meeting for the next time in July.
