Froebel's Kindergarten
Mason City Study Group
On-Going

The group had fun making a variety of life figures as well as geometrical shapes. They enjoyed the "animation" of seeing all the various angles of ten slats change shape as they randomly opened and closed when "played" like an accordian.

In some ways, it was like watching the shifting movements of a live organism. While they did not spend much time on the various polygons, they did remind themselves of the number of interior angles and what they measured. For example, the interior angles of a regular octagon are all 135 degrees.

It was a challenge to create polygon within polygon patterns, since the slats (lines) are all connected. It's like drawing on paper without picking up the pencil. Like most of Wright's window designs, they appear "slat-like" in construction.
